Bionomics

The larva feeds gregariously between the achenes, several of which it spins together, and hollows them out. There is no visible evidence of its presence.
Hibernates as a larva and pupates in a cocoon in the seed head on the food plant.
The adults come to light in small numbers.

The adults fly from late May towards mid-August in one generation a year.
