Wingspan 20–22 mm.
The caterpillar is gray-yellow-green with dark red-brown lines
The larva feeds on the flower and unripe seeds and lives in groups in the flower buds
Pupation on the ground or under moss in a spinning, often several specimens together.
One generation a year in July–August.
Oligophagous on Asteraceae especially on Artemisia absinthium. Also on Gnaphalium sylvaticum and on Gnaphalium luteoalbum.
Shaded places in woodland areas, deciduous forest edges, and fallow lands.
