The highly mobile and distinctly patterned larva lives on different species of Poaceae. It feeds within a grass blade spun to form a linear roll with a hole at each end, changing rolls several times before pupation.
The adults become active around dusk and later come to light.
The adults have been seen from late June towards mid-September in a single generation a year.
The larva lives on different species of Poaceae, like Calamagrostis epigejos, Dactylis glomerata, Elytrigia repens or Triticum repens.
It inhabits meadows and grassy pastures.
