Distribution


Imago

Wingspan 10–12 mm. It has chocolate brown wings that are grey towards the base. The face and palps are whitish. There is a pair of cream, slightly curved strigulae from the dorsum at one half. There are four pairs costal strigulae. The first two are paired and well separated from the next two that are paired. They subtend short plumbeous striae. The ocellar area has a curved plumbeous bar. The dark cilia are silvery colored.

Caterpillar

Whitish abdomen with a light brown head, the neck shield is dark brown, the anal valve is hardly noticeable. Before pupation, the caterpillar turns scarlet.


Bionomics

The larva lives in the seed pods on the host plant. Hibernates as a larva in a cocoon in litter on the ground.
The adults fly on sunny afternoons and later come to light.
