First observation for this species in Belgium was on 07 September 1991 at Schoten (AN). Nowadays (2022) an uncommon species, more frequently observed in the northern part of Belgium.
Native
The larva feeds in catkins of the food plant eating the interior. Pupation on the ground.
The adults rest during the day on the trunks of the food plants. The adults are frequently attracted to light.
The adults fly from late May towards mid-August.
The larva feeds on Salix caprea, preferring larger trees.
It inhabits mixed woods, wasteland, margins of lakes and pond, boggy places, fens and marshes etc...
