A very rare and local species in Belgium. Only known from older records in LI where it used to be locally common.
Native
First record for our country in 1955 at Zutendaal (LI).
The larva bores on the stem, causing it to colour conspicuously yellow. Pupation in the stem, in preparation an oval exit opening is made a few cm above the place of the pupa.
The adults are on the wing from June towards August.
The larva feeds on Scirpus lacustris.
