A fairly common species throughout Belgium, more frequently observed in the south.
The larvae live between spun leaves. The adults are usually present high up in the trees but they come to light.
The adults fly from mid-May till August, occasionally later. Most observations during June.
The larva lives on Quercus.
It inhabits old, mature woodland and parkland.
