Only known in Belgium from an old record in WV; Ostend, 1864-07-30, 2 specimens, leg. E. Fologne. Probably extinct for long. Also in the neighbouring countries, this species seems to have retracted for long.

Forewing ground colour brownish grey; five dark brown to blackish dots in the middle of the wing; three brown lines in the apical area.
The egg is oviposited on the flowers or seedheads of the larval hostplant during April–May.
The caterpillar feeds among these flowers and seeds in June and July.
The species hibernate in the adult stage.
One generation a year from September till April.
The caterpillar lives on Heracleum sphondylium, Pastinaca sativa or Angelica sylvestris.
