A rare and local species throughout Belgium. Most records mainly known from the Kempen. It was formerly more widespread.

Bionomics

The larva lives inside the stems or in a cocoon amongst grass blades. Pupation inside the cocoon or onder a stone. Overwinters as an egg.
During the day they visit flowers, especially thistles. They come to light in small numbers.

Flight periods

The adults fly in one generation a year, from early July to the end of September, but are mainly seen from the end of July till mid-August.
