A fairly common and widespread species in Belgium.

Dull whitish, head capsule pale brown, prothoracic plate very light brown
The species hibernates in the larval stage. It feeds from July to March.
Pupation during March–April in the larval feeding place.
The adults come to light.
One generation a year in May and June.
The larva lives on different seeds and dry vegetable matter but the species has been bred from birds' nests as well.
Very varying habitats like woodlands, fields, and marshes, but also barns, houses, grain stores, and mills.
