First observed in Belgium in 2010 in WV. Hitherto still a very rare and local species.
Native
The eggs are laid on a twig about 5 to 10 cm from the top. The female mainly chooses young trees.
The pale yellow caterpillar has a black head; prothoracic plate with two triangular markings; prolegs and anal claspers black.
The caterpillars live in the young shoots and eat the shoot, the leaves fall off and the plant withers. Before the larva pupates, it makes a roundish hole in the bottom of the shoot and close it again with some silk. The caterpillar pupates in the shoot and the pupa lies in a white silk cocoon.
