Bionomics

The larva lives first on the catkins and later on the leaves of the foodplant. It hibernates as pupa.
The adults are active during sunny days and like to rest on trails and other wet spots on the ground where they usually stand out only when they are disturbed and fly off. They come infrequently to light.
