Very unexpectedly, after a long period of absence, this very rare species was caught again in 2018 in Grobbendonk (AN).
Native
Hibernates as an egg. The adults come to light.
The moths fly in usually two generations from late May to early October.
The larva lives on Salix, especially on small leaved species like Salix purpurea.
Macaria artesiaria inhabits warm willow sites such as flood plains, river sides, lake shores, or successions on gravel and sand.
