A very rare species in Belgium.
Native
Eggs are laid in the flowers on the host plant where the young larva lives. When the larva gets older, it descends as a borer in the stem where it feeds on the pith and where pupation takes place in spring.
The adults are active in the daytime flying around the host plant and later coming to light.
The adults are on the wing from mid-May to late July.
It inhabits dry open areas where the host plant is present.
