A very common species throughout Belgium.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.
Native
Hibernates as a small larva and pupates in a cocoon formed between grass blades. The adults come to light.
The adults fly in two to three generations a year; from mid May till late October.
The larva lives on various grasses icluding Brachypodium sylvaticum and Molinia caerulea.
