A very rare species in Belgium.
Native
Wingspan 8 mm. A very small moth with labial palps and frons whitish. Forewing with a broad complete transverse metallic silvery-white median fascia (more white at its proximal margin, more silver distally), distal to this
four white costal strigulae. The first and third of which give rise to silver striae, the first of which is almost connected with the proximal silver ocellar dash and forms an almost complete angled line.
Ocellus with a pair of silver dashes angled with the costal striae, with a series of short black streaks and spots, scales distal to the median fascia irrorate yellow, much less so proximal to the fascia, costa blackish between the strigulae and for a short distance proximal to the median fascia; a row of black scales at the base of the terminal cilia.
The larva feeds inside in the berries of the host plant.
The adults are on the wing from mid-May towards late August.
The larva lives on Juniperus communis and Juniper sp.
It inhabitats sandy or calcereous grounds associated with Juniperus and most likely to be encountered in the vicinity of these larval foodplants.
