A common species throughout Belgium. Populations can fluctuate considerably from year to year.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.

Hibernates as a small larva low down in the vegetation.
The adults come to light and sugar.
The adults fly in one generation a year from June till August. Sometimes a partial second generation occurs till October.
The larva lives on different species of Gramineae, but also on Taraxacum, Stellaria, Plantago etc...
