Wingspan 20–29 mm. It is distinguished by its large size, reticulate grey-brown forewing and strong costal markings.

Bionomics

The larva lives between spun leaves and it hibernates as larva and pupates in the larval habitation or between spun leaves.
The adults come to light and are mainly active at night.

The adults fly from late May till end of July.

Substrates:
Polyphagous

The larva lives between spun leaves of Hedera, Ligustrum, Lonicera, Stachys, Vaccinium, Ribes, Larix, Abies, Picea and Pinus. However showing a preference for Hedera.
