A not so common species in Belgium. It is more often encountered in the northern provinces.

The species hibernates in the larval stage.
The adults are active at night and come to light.
The adults fly probably in one generation a year from the end of May till early August. They are mostly found in June.
The larva has been found on decomposing wood of Quercus, among fallen pine (Pinus) needles, and from autumn to spring amongst dried fungus.
