Wingspan 37–43 mm. The cross-line near the base of the forewing curves gently round to the leading edge of the wing.

Bionomics

Hibernates as larva and pupates underground.
They are active from dusk onwards and later come to light.

The adults fly in two, sometimes three generations a year from April till late September, occasionally later.
