A rather rare species in Belgium, mainly observed in the south and the eastern part of our country.
Native
Whitish, head capsule light brown, prothoracic plate yellowish brown.
Cocoon yellowish white, often containing small pieces of wood.
The species hibernates in the larval stage.
Pupation in a yellowish white cocoon in the larval feeding place.
The adults are active during the early morning hours, especially on sunny days, when they are assembling to females.
One generation a year: from May till the end of June.
The larva lives on decaying wood, like Corylus avellana or Salix spp.
Rather xerotherm forests with a lot of open space and fallen tree trunks.
