A very local and rare species in Belgium. Used to be confused with Metalampra italica which was described as recent as in 1977.

The species hibernates in the larval stage.
Adults are active in the early morning hours. They come to light.
One generation a year from the end of June till September.
The larva lives under the dead bark of deciduous and pine trees on rotten plant material; tree species mentioned include Abies alba, Alnus, Betula, Fagus sylvatica, Fraxinus, Pinus, Populus, Quercus, and Robinia.
Pine forests, mixed and deciduous forests, especially in open places and on sandy soil, parks, abandoned ruderal places with a lot of old wood.
