Antenna

Description:

(plural: antennae). One of the paired, movable and multisegmented sensory appendages lying anterodorsally on the head, close to the clypeus, that is involved in tactile and chemical perception. The antenna consists of a first elongate segment (the scape) followed by a variable number (3-11) of smaller segments that form together the funiculus. The 1-4 last antennal segments are sometimes enlarged to form an apical club.
