Bionomics

The larva when young mines the leaves and later lives in silken tubes along the shoots, in spun lower leaves or within young shoots from which it bores into the stem on the host plant.
The adults become active from before sunset and later come to light.

The adults have been seen from mid-June onwards to mid-September.

The larva lives mostly on Silene species like Silene nutans, Silene vulgaris, Silene suecica, Silene uniflora, Silene dioica, Silen viscaria, but also on Cerastium arvense, Spergularia rubra, Stellaria media and Petrorhagia saxifraga.
