First observation in 2020 in WV. Hitherto still a very rare species.
Native
Note: The species was first mentioned by Van Daele E. & Pelerents C. 1969. Synthèse des observations effectuées pendant quatre années sur les lépidoptères nocturnes de la région horticole gantoise. — Mededelingen Rijksfaculteit Landbouwwetenschappen Gent 34: 31–56. On page 39. Since the species is easily confused with a Bryotropha species, there are no specimens of that date in the RBINS, and the food plant Glaux maritima does not occur in the area studied, we may assume that this was an incorrect identification at the time. The species has now been found in Belgium, and the first observation would now date from 27.vi.2020 from the Zwin in Knokke (WV), leg. Leaf Mine Workgroup.
The adults become active from sunset onwards and later come to light.
The adulys fly from mid-June towards July.
The larva lives on Glaux maritima.
It inhabits littoral meadows and salt marshes.
