A very rare, local, and declining species in Belgium, nowadays (2000) only known from NA and LG.

This species is considered Regionally Extinct according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.

Bionomics

The larva lives on the seed capsules of various species of the food plant.
They hibernate as a pupa in an underground cocoon.
The adults come to light and sugar.

The adults fly in two generations a year from May till late August.

Host plant (species):
Silene maritima, Silene nutans, Melandrium album and Silene vulgaris

Species of Silene, but especially on Silene vulgaris.
